A Comparison of Analytical Procedures of Ferric Chloride Etching

A Comparison of Analytical Procedures of Ferric Chloride Etching Solution

Spring 1986

The purpose of this exercise is to standardize the techniques that are used to analyze ferric chloride etching solutions and to reach a common ground for discussing the properties of etching solutions and their relationship to the etching process. We compared a set of procedures provided to us by PCMl as part of a study of analytical procedures for the properties of ferric chloride etching solutions. We evaluated procedures received from Hunt Chemical (Procedure I), an unknown source (Procedure 11), Gulbrandsen Co. (Procedure III) and Dean Thayer (Procedure IV). The analytical procedures were carried out by arrangement with Kent Laboratories of Upton, MA.
