Recovering a Copper Commodity from Printed Circuit Board Rinsewaters
Abstract
A case history describes the usc of ion exchange technology for
recovering a metallic copper commodity from plating wastev.’alers.
The rinsewaters uf a printed circuil board operation are treated to
levels well below effluent requirements and often below levels of
detection. The cost and operational efficiencies of the metal
recovery system are highlighted. The technology’s highly
favorable return on investment is compared with other technologies.
The advantages of recycling the copper include no landfill
disposal, no liabilities from hazardous waste generation and
reduced operating expenses.
