In Memoriam — Carl Whinery, Former PCMI President

Carl Whinery, PCMI president from 1989 – 1991 passed away on October 16, 2018.  Carl was 79 and living in Tacoma, WA. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sara, his three children and their spouses. Carl was born in Hotchkiss, CO. Carl and his family moved to Seattle circa 1951, where he met Sara, his next-door neighbor, whom he ultimately married.

Conference Facility Tours

Each PCMI conference offers attendees the chance to tour industry related facilities. In Long Beach, California, attendees had the change to visit  E. Jordan Brookes Company, a copper based metals and engineered plastics supplier and Phibro-Tech, Inc, a recycler of permitted waste primarily from the electronics industry.

The E.Jordan Brookes Company was started in 1936 as a manufacturer’s representative of metallic tubular materials and fittings.

Spring 2019 International Technical Conference

 

The Spring 2019 International Technical Conference will be held in France from May 18 – 22.

Facility tours will include visits to Mecachimique and Altix.

2018 PCMI Short Course

The A-Z of Photochemical Machining

Professor David Allen presented a Short Course at the Fall 2018  Fall Conference held in Long Beach, CA.

The course covered both technical and economic aspects of PCM and the “buzz words” of PCM from A to Z in an informative but light-hearted approach, as the course was intended as an enjoyable experience in addition to being an educational exercise.

PCMI Wishes Jan Kilén A Happy Retirement

Jan Kilén, the previous owner of HPEtch and ParaTech Coating has sold both of his companies and will be retiring.  Jan has served on the PCMi Board of  Directors since 2014. He also recently served on the PCMI Sweden Conference Committee

HP Etch was established the summer of 1995 and now has between 25 and 45 employees.
