Adhesive vinyl is used as the acid resist. Areas that will be etched are cut by a vinyl cutter and removed manually from the vinyl before it is applied to the metal that is to be etched. Painting is performed while the vinyl is still in place, providing a peel-off paint mask. Panels can then be trimmed to size using a guillotine or metal cutting laser. Significant economy and enhanced capability can impact the bottom line.

Meet Jim Cove

Jim really is the “Jack of All Trades” however his formal qualifications stem for his studies and work for a large electricity generator serving cities and towns throughout South Eastern Australia.

With the purchase of Mastercut he became immersed in the world of PCM. Along with his business partner, Bill Dennis, Jim has grown Mastercut from 4 employees to 14, even through the GFC. Flexibility has been key to Mastercut’s growth in a small market. Marrying laser cutting with PCM has been a breakthrough as it allows the surface etching then laser cut out of thick materials.

Jim’s technical ability continues to be a valuable asset to Mastercut with further developments assured.
