Chemically Machining the New York Throughway
One of my responsibilities involves the proper disposal of
waste etchant material. We dispose of roughly 70,000 gallons or
almost 400 tons of ferric chloride annually. Both our fresh and
waste etchant are transported in rubber lined tanker trucks.
I think we are like most companies when it comes to
hazardous waste. We are looking constantly for the least
expensive but proper method of disposal. Our experience has
been that a hazardous waste company will submit a bid below
our current disposal cost to attract our business. Then within
several months the price increases to at least our original
cost.
