Cooling Water Alternatives

The most common method of supplying cooling water is the direct connection of the cooler to the water main. In this method the inlet of the cooling coil (or its water control valve) is connected directly to the city water supply. This method of connection has the lowest capital cost of aU the cooling water supply systems. Nothing more than interconnecting piping is required. Figure 1 is a graphical representation of this type of connection. Fresh water from the main flows through a single pass of the coil. Water from the cooler’s outlet goes to drain.
