Etching as Architecture: A New Mural by Norman Achroyd, AKA, RE
The mural in the entrance hall ofRed Lion Court, London SE1 is
the outcome of a remarkable story of support and collaboration
between the artist, the architect, and the client. Architects
frequently shy away from commissioning artists because they
find themselves in an unenviable position in the middle. They are
blamed if the end result is less than satisfactory or if the artist is left
feeling misunderstood and aggrieved. In this case harmony
reigned, and the result is both subtle and arresting.
